Bammy Beginnings
Bammy For as long as I can remember, I've been baking cookies. My first "Public" showing was in the mid-1940's at the Colorado State Fair in Pueblo where I won a blue ribbon for my chocolate drop cookies. Over the years, I have baked cookies for family and friends. My favorite time to bake was the first day of school for my kids. When they got home there was always the smell of chocolate chip cookies in the air. Eventually my son and his best friend encouraged me to go into the cookie business, So...

In 1988, we opened Bammy's Homestyle Cookies. The nickname "Bammy" was given to me by my then 2 year old grandson, Travis. He was learning to talk and instead of Grandma, all that came out was Bammy. So that is what everyone starting calling me. I even have "Bammy" on the license plates on my car!

Starting in a small kitchen we rented from a local restaurant, my daughter Cheri and I began baking cookies at night. We baked, packaged and delivered our cookies to other Ft. Collins businesses. It was just the two of us baking cookies during the evening, trying to make our business grow.

Around 1991, I began making the cookie dough for a local chain of restaurants that baked in-house and passed out fresh-baked cookies to customers. As I drove up and down I-25 in my worn-out Buick delivering 35 pound pails of chocolate chip cookie dough, I got the idea of putting the dough into containers for all our customers to take home and bake. I began selling cookie dough in 3 pound pails to our local grocery stores and Bammy's Gourmet Cookie Dough was born. I made the dough, packaged it, sold it and delivered it by myself to 11 grocery stores. The company that makes our pails and lids only offered 3 standard colors of lids when I got started: Red, Yellow and Orange. The yellow was for my Peanut Butter, the orange was for my Oatmeal and the red was for the Chocolate Chip. We discovered that our customers like the different colored lids and labels so we still use them today. That was how we started using different colors for different flavors. Pretty simple, huh? Then, I had to learn about the UPC bar codes and once I applied for and received our manufacturers code, I was in business. The second set of numbers you see on the UPC code represent family birthdays and anniversaries. For example, on the chocolate chip the "30685" is my granddaughter's birthday.

Then in late 1996, my son Mike left his job in Arizona and moved home to help me with the business. He changed the grocery store package from 3 pound to 2 pound and added new flavors. My daughter Cheri came on board in 2000 to be one of our fundraising coordinators. We package and sell our 3# pails to schools, sports teams and non-profit customers to help them raise money. Our company is now known as Bammy's Gourmet Cookie Dough Company and from the name to the UPC codes, we are truly a family owned and operated business. We hope you enjoy baking and eating our cookie dough as much as we enjoy making it for you! We sincerely thank you for trying it!
